Moki refers to the historic natural coffees of Harar/Hararghe, once exported through the Yemeni port of Mocha. These coffees helped shape Ethiopia’s identity, celebrated for blueberry aromatics, winey sweetness, and deep fruit.
This Moki Natural comes from Gedeb, just south of Yirgacheffe in the Gedeo Zone—one of Ethiopia’s most renowned growing areas. With high altitude, fertile volcanic soils, and ideal climate, Gedeb produces some of the country’s most vibrant coffees.
Most farmers work 1–5 hectare family plots, often measured by tree count rather than land size. Farming is traditional, organic by default, and guided by generational knowledge.
Grown at 1,700–2,000 metres, Gedeb’s cool climate slows maturation, building the bright acidity, layered fruit, and natural sweetness that define the classic Moki profile.
